ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM

The alumni association hosts the annual Dental Hygiene Symposium each fall, offering an affordable continuing education course to dentists and hygienists. Remaining current on the ever changing ideals and technology within the field of oral health is fundamental to our practice as hygienists. The symposium gives alumni and professionals a chance to meet, network, catch up, and reminisce on our journey to becoming hygienists. Want to be a part of the upcoming symposium?

MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY

Instructors Diane Perkins Wuthnow and Beth Reynolds Matthews founded the Dental Hygienists Alumni Association of Johnson County Community College in the fall of 1981. It is the mission of the association to provide quality continuing education, scholarship, networking, and mentorship opportunities to current students and fellow alumni.

Over the span of five decades, the Dental Hygiene program at JCCC has been first in its class to cultivate, educate, and yield exceptional registered dental hygienists who have gone on to motivate others in oral health around the country. From public service and private practice, to state level and product retail representatives, Johnson County’s RDH’s span far and wide. Within the Dental Hygienists Alumni Association of JCCC, we take pride in the philosophy to continue our vital role within dentistry promoting the visibility of the professional RDH.

SCHOLARSHIP

Today, the cost for a Johnson County resident to complete the JCCC Dental Hygiene program can reach $12,000 for tuition, instruments, supplies and uniforms. Board examinations and licensure are an additional $1,700. The Dental Hygiene Alumni Scholarship offers aid to current exceptional students expressing need to move forward with their education. Through personal and foundation donations, the alumni scholarship has distributed thousands of dollars to future RDH’s at JCCC.
